Accessibility

Atlas Tea Company is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We're a small family business, and we hold ourselves to the standard of treating every customer the way we'd want our own family to be treated — which means making sure the door is open.

Our standard

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard adopted by most accessibility-aware US businesses, and it covers a broad range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities — including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, limited mobility, speech disabilities, photosensitivity, and combinations of these.

Where we are today

We do not yet claim full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. Atlas Tea Company's website is built on a customized Shopify theme that includes accessibility considerations as a baseline. We are progressively improving the site — alt text on images, clear heading structure, sufficient color contrast, keyboard navigation, and form labels — but we know we have not yet caught everything.

If you find a page, image, form, or feature on atlasteacompany.com that you cannot use, we want to hear about it so we can fix it.

Reporting a barrier

The fastest way to reach us about an accessibility issue is by email at hello@atlasteacompany.com.

When you contact us, please include if you can:

  • A description of the issue
  • The page URL where it occurred
  • The browser, device, and assistive technology you are using (if any)

We will respond within 5 business days and work with you to resolve it.

Alternative formats and accommodations

If you would like product information, our menu, or other content in a different format — large print, plain text, read aloud, or another arrangement that works for you — please ask. We are happy to provide it.

For our catering services, we are equally committed to accessibility at events. If you are planning a gathering and have guests with specific access needs (dietary, mobility, sensory, communication), please tell us when you book. We will plan with care.

Third-party content

Some features of our website connect to third-party services:

  • Online ordering for our café menu is provided by Toast. Toast's accessibility practices are independent of ours; if you encounter an issue there, please let us know and we will help find an alternative way for you to place your order.
  • Payment processing at checkout is handled by Shopify and our payment processors, which follow their own accessibility standards.
  • Embedded social media content follows the accessibility standards of the platform that hosts it.

We are not able to guarantee the accessibility of third-party content, but we will help you find another way to access the information or complete what you came to do.

Ongoing work

We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time project. We revisit this statement and our compliance posture as the site evolves and as standards update.

People rush past. Calendars press us. Traffic grows louder, and the pace quickens — always pulling us toward the next thing.

But inside Atlas, the noise softens.

The sound shifts. Stillness returns. And something within you says:

It’s okay to slow down. You’re safe here — free to exhale, reconnect, and begin again.

Like a refuge. Like coming home.

Because Atlas was
never just about tea.
It’s about what tea
makes possible.

A companion to grief and healing, to joy and everyday being, tea speaks tenderly when words fall short. It soothes the soul. It brings warmth to cold mornings, clarity to restless minds, comfort to the uncertain, and pause to the relentless pace of life.

In sorrow, in celebration, and in all the moments between — tea stays with us.

It’s our shared, universal language.

Each leaf, spice, and fruit in your cup carries the story of landscapes and lives from across the globe. From mist-covered hills and sunlit gardens to ancestral lands tended by generations of hands — families of farmers gather and gift us the earth’s offering.

So we welcome you in — with care, and with gratitude for everything tea holds.

As you enter Atlas, light moves softly through lofty ceilings. Floating fixtures glow.

Piano notes drift through the air. There’s reverence here — in every texture, tone, and thoughtful detail — each one inviting you back to yourself.

And in that unfolding, something becomes clear

In a world that rushes forward and speaks ever louder, well-being was never waiting at the finish line.

It’s been here all along.
